This is a bug fix release, but it also includes a new, experimental, Win64 installer binary.

This is primarily a bugfix release over 4.00. However, it does include an experimental Lua scripting module and a few other enhancements.

This is a major code restructuring and features release. The biggest changes are support for the ext4 and btrfs filesystems, GPT partition tables, disks larger than 2 TiB, and the ability to list disk contents from the command line.

This release adds support for emulating CD-ROM images from .ISO files using MEMDISK, support for arbitrary screen resolutions in the VESA menu, video mode setting for Multiboot, and future support for PM operating system drivers in MEMDISK. It also adds a number of bugfixes, including fixing the DOS installer for MS-DOS 7.x/8.x and fixing PC-DOS images in MEMDISK.

This release adds some minor new features, including the ability to add overrides to DHCP options in the pxelinux binary, a new version of the Hardware Detection Tool, and some fixes to the Gfxboot module. It also includes some additional workarounds for broken BIOSes.

Project Description

Syslinux is a collection of boot loaders for Linux
and other operating systems which operates on
Linux ext2/ext3 filesystems, MS-DOS FAT
filesystems, network servers using PXE firmware,
or from CD-ROMs. Syslinux has an advanced
extension API and contains two optional menu
systems. It also includes MEMDISK, a tool for
booting legacy operating systems from
non-traditional media like PXE or CD-ROM.
