Project Release Information2004-06-02 21:05 This release adds the new ln_ API calls and a new header structure, and includes many bugfixes. Solar system bodies with hyperbolic orbits are now also supported. 2004-01-25 17:02 Longitude measurement has been changed from Mees positively westwards to IAU positively eastwards. Support has been added for Win32, FreeBSD, and Mac OS X. Numerous other bugfixes. 2003-07-29 22:37 This release has extra Julian day functions and example code. There are many bugfixes. 2003-03-23 18:06 Several correct quadrant bugs in the position calculations for Moon, Planets, Comets, and Asteroids were fixed. Lunar ascending node and perigee longitudes were added. 2003-01-29 16:01 Rectangular coordinates were added for the planets, Mercury through Pluto. More tests were added to the test harness. Bugs in elliptic and heliocentric comet positions and magnitudes were fixed. API documentation errors and various other bugs were corrected. Project ResourcesProject Description libnova is a general purpose, double precision, celestial mechanics and astronomical calculation library. It can calculate aberration, nutation, apparent position, dynamical time, Julian day, precession, proper motion, sidereal time, solar coordinates (using VSOP87), coordinate transformations, planetary positions (Mercury - Neptune using VSOP87), planetary magnitude, illuminated disk and phase angle, lunar position (using ELP82), phase angle, elliptic motion of bodies (Asteroid + Comet positional and orbit data), asteroid + comet magnitudes, parabolic motion of bodies (comet positional data), orbit velocities and lengths, atmospheric refraction, rise/set/transit times, and semidiameters of the Sun, Moon, planets, and asteroids. |
