This release cleans the build system and adds defaults for parallel builds under Linux, refactors and accelerates code for handling large data sets, fixes following symlinks for objects, and adds assorted minor bugfixes.

HDF (Hierarchical Data Format) is a general
purpose library and file format for storing
scientific data. It arranges data into datasets
(multidimensional arrays) and groups (a structure
for organizing objects).
