Project Release Information
This release comes almost exactly one year after 0.14.1, and brings a lot of improvements: more than 1700 changes were made.
Small bugs from 0.14 were fixed.
Hacked bots can now be repaired, at a cost in circuits, heat, and time. Dialogs are richer, and a few mini text games were added. One new quest was added. There are new graphics (weapons, player, and NPC animations). A new armor mechanism was introduced. Magical items have been removed and replaced with an add-on system that is more interesting to play with. Random dungeons have been improved, and will now have more variation. The level editor interface was re-designed for more efficiency. Saved games from FreedroidRPG 0.13 are incompatible with 0.14.
Translation support was removed as a consequence of the lack of a translation team. New graphics were contributed. Different difficulty levels are now available. A random dungeon system was added, with one random dungeon accessible from behind kevin's place. Black borders between levels were removed. Performance of game startup and loading was improved. Saved games are now compressed in order to save disk space. The "examine mode" feature was removed. A persistent NPC inventory system was added, for more realism in shops. The level editor was also improved.
A game tutorial was implemented. Levels have been improved in order to better fit with the storyline. New music tracks have been added. As usual, lots of bugs have been fixed, notably in the areas of robot AI and pathfinding. The leveleditor interface was improved with rectangle selection and copy pasting features.
