This release features major changes, including a PPU source clean-up, a completely overhauled audio system, MMC source clean-up, various GUI improvements, and several new audio effects and filters.

In this release, four-screen mirroring support was added, a PPU tile cache memory leak was fixed, Sunsoft mapper 4 (iNES mapper 68) support was added, and the MMC3 SRAM disable bit is now ignored (to fix Star Tropics).

The graphics rendering engine has been overhauled. More accurate PPU emulation, support for new MMCs and bugfixes for currently supported ones, and many small CPU/PPU speed optimizations were added.

A speed increase in PPU rendering functions, completely overhauled memory architecture, improved sprite priorities, preliminary Zapper support, complete audio emulation, and the beginnings of a new GUI.

Project Description

FakeNES is a portable, Open Source NES emulator that is written mostly in C, and uses the Allegro library for cross-platform capabilities. The officially supported platforms are DOS, Windows 9x/2k/Me/XP, Linux, FreeBSD, QNX, BeOS, and Mac OS X.
