As a quick & easy alternative to compiling XZ on your OSX Mac to decompress the M+ font archive, just install "The Unarchiver" app (http://wakaba.c3.cx/s/apps/unarchiver.html). Also, http://typefront.com will create all the necessary web fonts for you. It's good enough for quick testing but a) you can't access the files b) I'm not sure they're still a viable company. I believe FontForge (http://fontforge.org) is the best way to create to necessary web fonts.

Where can I get or create other Web versions (eot, woff, and svg) from the M+1 ttf versions? The file is too large to convert at fontsquirrel.com and www.font2web.com

Thanks,

"mplus-TESTFLIGHT-043.tar.gz" is 29.0 MB,
"mplus-TESTFLIGHT-043.tar.xz" is 7.1 MB.
# http://sourceforge.jp/projects/mplus-fonts/releases/?package_id=1793

I think this difference would be very useful.

Or you can use the old version such as 043.
There are no change in Roman characters.

I use XZ on Mac OS X as follows.

XZ Install:
$ tar zxfp xz-5.0.3.tar.gz -C /tmp
$ cd /tmp/xz-5.0.3
$ ./configure
$ make
$ sudo make install

Decompress XZ file:
$ xz -dc mplus-TESTFLIGHT-0**.tar.xz | tar xf -

Btw, also, is it really really important to have the ".xz" file extension as a download? I mean you save 10% in the compression over the MUCH more common tar.gz and zip formats. Is this worth it? I'm on Mac OSX, and it's a real real real pain to find software that can expand the .xz file format. I found a package installer for XZ, but that doesn't get automatically linked to .xz files. Please consider using more popular platforms for this simple stuff.

Thanks.
